Does anyone know if this book was ever translated to English? And if it hasn’t been yet, does anyone ld if it will be? I chuchoteuur finished reading The Whisperer and I couldn’t put the book down so I’ll be heartbroken if I can’t read this too.

Like particularly macabre Vhuchoteur folk story the geographic location is unclear, the menace is primordial, and the actors are recognisably evil, good or damaged. Ilvre am lle sure why I found so little enjoyment from it all. Par contre je ne m’explique pas vraiment le titre du roman This is an excellent, gripping story but, in the English translation it lacks a sense of place.
The translator has done really well in bringing the characters to life but, as I read it, it felt almost as if the story was taking place in a vacuum. I wondered if this was how Carrisi writes bu, as I have now browsed another of his novels in an Italian bookshop, I’m afraid that the problem lies in the translation.
Dec 26, Marion rated it liked it.
Mila Vasquez, the protagonist of The Whispereris now working in a department nicknamed Limbo, which handles the most hopeless missing persons cases.
As Mila focuses on investigating these cold cases, long-vanished missing persons start to return, only to kill people. Mila teams up with departmental pariah Simon Berish to try to get to the bottom of this. Why have these people suddenly started re-appearing, and what is the reason for their murderous behaviour?
It gradually dawns on Mira that the Mila Vasquez, the protagonist of The Whispereris now working in a department nicknamed Limbo, which handles the most hopeless missing persons cases. It gradually dawns on Mira that there are greater forces and a larger conspiracy at work. Carrisi once again spins an intricate plot with regular satisfying twists; I certainly didn’t pick the ending.
The empathy-challenged Mira remains a strong central character, although I was not that enamored of Simon, who came across as a bit of a lightweight most of the time. I also thought the character of the Judge was a great addition, and I hope Carrisi keeps the Judge in future stories.
I didn’t think this entry was as strong as the first book, but there is enough in here to make me want to stick with the Vasquez series as Carrisi adds to it. Mila Vasquez is an agent at the Limbo, the department in charge of investigating the vanished ones, people who disappeared without a trace… Until now, when gruesome murders are been committed by those vanished people.
The deeper agent Mila Vasquez goes in her investigation, the more she realises it is going to be very difficult to distinguish friends from foes… And she may be risking even more than her own life in the way… This is a very well written novel, fast paced and with a plot which immedi Mila Vasquez is an agent at the Limbo, the department in charge of investigating the vanished ones, people who disappeared without a trace… Until now, when gruesome murders are been committed by those vanished people.

Well, for me the main problem is that there are many references to previous events, the ones which take place in the previous novel, which are not fully explained and thus reduce the satisfaction of reading.
There are also some loops in the plot which make it very difficult to believe, some things are left unexplained to be sorted out by the reader… I do not know. I wish I had read the previous novel. I have now mixed feelings about the book.
It is good, but I have the feeling it could have been much better…
L’Écorchée by Donato Carrisi (3 star ratings)
Dedicati agli amanti del noir Almost a 4 star but I just found the culmination of the story a touch ridiculous I guess.
Going through some stuff in my life at the moment so reading hasn’t been a dominant part of my life – maybe this book just got caught up in the mess and I lost my way with it. Any how, chuuchoteur writing, decent characters I liked immediately and a well written story.
Me ha dado justo lo que buscaba: An interesting read A decent follow up to the whisperer, well chuchoteut and believable tales of missing persons.
I liked that the city is never identified. Weakness is that it’s a little too neat how the clues are discovered, chuchkteur ending feels abrupt as well. Donato Karizi Donato Carrisi was born in and studied law and criminology.
